LSU’s journalism school to host event on politics, fact-checking and elections

Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication and the American Press Institute will hold “Just the Facts: A boot camp on accountability journalism,” a day-long workshop on fact-checking, politics and elections on Saturday, March 12, at the journalism school’s Holliday Forum.

Presenters include keynote speaker Adam Chodikoff, the Daily Show’s senior researcher, producer and fact-checker; W. Gardner Selby, a reporter with PolitiFact Texas; and Brooke Binkowski, a reporter with Snopes.

A panel on politics will feature Manship School political communication professors Bob Mann and Ray Pingree; Charles Maldonado, government accountability reporter for The Lens; Marsha Shuler, policy coordinator for Louisiana Commissioner of Administration; and moderator Martin Johnson, associate dean for graduate studies at the Manship School.

The event begins with a continental breakfast and registration from 8:30-9 a.m. Lunch also is included. The workshop will conclude at 3:10 p.m.
