A former AP staffer writes a newsletter that keeps former and current AP employees connected

Poynter

Paul Stevens is a former Associated Press regional vice president who is now writing a newsletter that keeps former and current AP employees connected. When Stevens retired in 2009, AP corporate communications sent out a monthly newsletter, but when that newsletter ended, Stevens decided to pick it up. Called “Connecting,” Stevens rounds up top AP stories, features from the AP’s “Today in History” feed, industry news, and birthdays, weddings and other life events from AP staffers. Of his 1,100 subscribers, Stevens estimates that about 600 are former or retired AP employees, another 300 currently work for the AP, and the rest are friends in the industry.
