Insights, tools and research to advance journalism

Can you moderate 5 NYT comments?

New York Times

The New York Times is helping its readers get a taste of the work and thought process that goes into moderating comments with a comment moderation test. With some rules as background, readers are given five comments, which they can then approve or reject. Once the reader makes their choice, they’re then given an explanation of why NYT moderators would have either approved or rejected the comment.

+ The New York Times will partner with Jigsaw, a tech incubator at Google parent company Alphabet, to improve its comment sections: The project will expand comments to more stories on NYT’s website, as well as increase the speed with which comments are reviewed (New York Times)
