Using a card-style format, The Telegraph redesigned its app and sped up load times


Trying to better engage its small but loyal audience of paying subscribers, The Telegraph has redesigned its mobile app with speed and convenience as priorities. Now, when a user enters The Telegraph’s app, they can choose from eight sections, including top stories, entertainment and business. Within the section, stories appear in card format in a scrolling news feed. Telegraph Media Group’s lead product manager of apps Mark Channon explains that by putting the stories in the card format, load time sped up: Each article is preloaded with the card, so load time is now under one second.
