How Trinity Mirror is structuring a youth community journalist mentoring program across its papers

Some papers in the US work with youth to create their own content, a process that teaches younger generations about journalism and strengthens ties with community. In the UK, Trinity Mirror is working with 60 young people (ages 16-24), all of whom are assigned a mentor and write for a WordPress site. The best content then can be promoted to the regional paper’s site, which happened for the first time on Thursday with a piece about the “on the streets” effect of austerity measures in Cardiff.
