Ahead of a visit from President Obama, Ethiopia releases 5 imprisoned journalists

Three imprisoned journalists were released on Wednesday and charges were dropped against two others on Thursday in Ethiopia ahead of a historic visit from President Barack Obama later this month. President Obama will become the first sitting U.S. leader to visit Ethiopia, which is often criticized by human rights groups for its poor track record in civil liberties and political rights. The Committee to Protect Journalists says there are 12 other imprisoned journalists in Ethiopia, making Ethiopia one of the worst countries for press freedom.
