PolitiFact will launch PunditFact to check claims by pundits and media figures
You might have heard: Politicians are less likely to lie when aware they’re being fact-checked, a study shows (Poynter)
But did you know: Although PolitiFact has done occasional fact-checks of pundits and talk show hosts, this new project will have staffers dedicated to checking media figures. Mostly following the model of its sister site PolitiFact, PunditFact will publish analyses of its findings — the patterns of the falsehoods, the most popular talking points and stories about how they originated. The website also will tally ratings over time for news organization and will publish periodic report cards.
