But did you know: Dylan Byers reports that former Los Angeles Times publisher Austin Beutner wanted to take the L.A. Times and California News Group private, a vision for that clashed with Tribune leadership. California News Group is a new unit within Tribune that includes the L.A. Times and recently acquired San Diego Union-Tribune. Chicago Tribune reported that Beutner was being removed due to “lagging financial performance and a series of expensive executive hires seen by some as a prelude to a potential political run.
