Borealis Philanthropy’s Racial Equity in Journalism Fund and the American Press Institute are pleased to invite you to apply for our pilot Listening & Sustainability Lab. We’ve crafted a short application below to collect information for consideration for this coaching and grant opportunity. Please see this information sheet and this document on audience segments for additional information.
Deadline: Please apply by December 7, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Any questions may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to publishers of color, nonprofit or commercial, that are serving local communities of color in the U.S. We welcome applications from publishers creating news and information in any medium, such as print, radio, email, or the web. Selected applicants agree to participate in research and coaching stages of this work, participate in cohort calls, execute listening and revenue work, and, in line with API’s mission, share insights from the work, as mutually agreed upon, publicly.
Funding: API will grant selected participants $5,000 to support involvement in the cohort, its programming and the execution of projects. No funds may be used for lobbying, unspent funds will be returned to API and records are subject to audit. Funds can be used, however, toward time to participate or execute projects. Specific terms will be laid out in an official grant agreement.
