A rant on negative writing

I love a good rant. Bob Baker goes on a nice one here in the latest entry in his Newsthinking web site, "Don't tell me what it's not, tell me what it IS."

I love persistence, too. And I can't recall a better story of persistence by a reporter than Larry Welborn's "Murder by Suicide?" an eight-part series that was more than 30 years in the making (you have to register to read the full series, but the registration process is free and easy):

Chip Scanlan has a good interview of Larry in his latest "Chip on My Shoulder" column. Chip also informs us that he's writing the column less frequently and shifting effort instead to his blog, "The Mechanic & the Muse."
