Ms. Barron has 30 years experience in print and broadcast media as an editor and reporter. As managing editor of The Patriot-News for the past five years, she has helped guide a major reorganization of the newsroom, a redesign of the paper, increased Web presence and retooling of the paper's contents. She joined the paper in 1985 as an assistant city editor and later served as Sunday editor and features editor. She began her journalism career as news director at WMRF radio in Lewistown, Pa. She was a reporter and editor at The Sentinel in Lewistown before joining The Patriot-News. Ms. Barron is a graduate of Georgetown University and has taught journalism and writing at Penn State and Temple University. She is past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors and current second vice president with the PA Association of AP Managing Editors. She has been a juror for the Pulitzer Prizes. Ms. Barron has attended two seminars at API: Executive Editors & Managing Editors (1989) and Senior Editors: Leadership Strategies for New Realities (1997).
