Ken Sands

Mr. Sands joined the staff of CQ in 2007. Before that, he was online publisher and online managing editor of The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Wash. During his tenure in Spokane, spokesmanreview.com received the Online News Association's "General Excellence" award for medium news sites in 2005, and the Newspaper Association of America's Digital Edge award for Best Overall News Site in its circulation bracket in 2006. Mr. Sands is a current board member of the Online News Association. Prior to that, he was the first elected online representative to the Associated Press Managing Editors Association Board of Directors. He directed the Reader Interactive Program for the APME National Credibility Roundtables project, which trained editors around the country on how to better interact with readers. He grew up in Portland, Ore. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism. Mr. Sands attended API’s City & Metro Editors seminar in 1992.
