Tim Richardson
Editor, Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive

Tim Richardson is the editor of the newly created product development team at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. Tim has reported for print, online, television and radio and currently works on new ventures at WPNI.

After leaving Kansas State University, Tim moved 50 miles east to the state capital of Topeka, where he served at the first online news editor of CJOnline, the Web site for the Topeka Capital-Journal. He worked with the newsroom¹s reporters and editors to publish frequent news updates online, as well as determine what stories could best be enhanced with video, audio or other multimedia.

CJOnline.com garnered several honors during Tim's five years in Topeka, including the Most Innovative Use of Digital Media for News Event award from the Newspaper Association of America and the Best Newspaper Site in the Nation award from Editor & Publisher magazine.

He then moved from the Kansas prairie the to sunny beaches of Southwest Florida, where he became the new media managing editor at naplesnews.com, the Web site of the Naples (Fla.) Daily News. Tim coordinated with editors to get stories on the Web and on the newspaper-produced television program, "Studio 55." In addition to writing and editing a variety of stories for the newspaper and Web, he shot video and conducted daily interviews on television and for naplesnews.com podcasts. The site won the Best Internet News Service award from Editor & Publisher, while the NAA honored the site with its Most Innovative Multimedia Storytelling award and named it a finalist for Best Overall News Site award.

Now in Washington, D.C., Tim serves as an editor and producer on the team of Web-guru Rob Curley at WPNI. In addition to producing a variety of video and audio podcasts, as well as working on other projects, Tim is currently the editor of LoudounExtra.com, which The Washington Post Company is using as its first aggressive push into hyperlocal journalism.
