Mackenzie Warren

Mr. Warren oversees the assembly and delivery of all editorial products across all platforms. The News-Press Information Center, with 135 journalists, produces a three-edition daily paper with an average circulation of 110,000, a Web site and associated digital products that reach 175,000 unique visitors each week and 10 weekly newspapers and two monthly magazines with a total circulation of 325,000.
Mr. Warren also served an 18-month stint as deputy to the publisher/special projects, in which he worked across departments on audience research and new product development. Among his projects: He oversaw the remaking of the editorial and op-ed products in print and online; helped Florida Gulf Coast University develop a curriculum for a new journalism degree program; and served on a variety of Gannett corporate innovation task forces involving news, online, sales, marketing and distribution.
Before joining The News-Press, Mr. Warren served two years as online editor at the Rockford (IL) Register Star. He chaired the newspaper’s Cyber-Fiber Integration Committee and also was a member of its editorial board. During his time http://rrstar.com was named the top news Web site in Illinois by the Associated Press.
In his pre-Gannett days, he reported for both the Chicago Tribune and the San Francisco Examiner.  He also served as a White House speechwriting intern from 1999 to 2000, researching and preparing draft texts for President Clinton’s speeches.
Mr. Warren graduated cum laude from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and has done additional coursework at Georgetown University. He has also studied and served as a teaching assistant at the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witswatersrand in Johannesburg.
