Jeanne Straus
President, Straus Newspapers Inc.

Jeanne Straus has more than 25 years of communications experience. She is president of Straus Newspapers, Inc., publisher of nine community weekly newspapers with a combined circulation of more than 90,000 in Orange County, NY, Pike County, PA and Sussex and Passaic Counties, NJ.

Jeanne was formerly Program Director of WMCA Radio, an all-talk AM station in New York City; a correspondent for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise; a stringer in Jerusalem for Associated Press; and an editorial assistant at the White House News Summary during the Carter Administration.

Jeanne’s passion is volunteer work. She helped found New York Cares, the premiere organization for hands-on volunteer work in New York. Having previously served as its Treasurer, today she is Vice President and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Jeanne also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the New York Press Association and will be its President in 2008.

Jeanne is married to Richard Tofel. They are the parents of two children, Rachel, age 18, and Colin, age 15.
