John Mennenga

John T. Mennenga has been in the newspaper industry for nearly 40 years.  His career as a marketing/research director for metropolitan daily newspapers including The Tampa Tribune, Des Moines Register and Minneapolis Star-Tribune was followed by 17 years as senior vice president of marketing and strategic planning at Sawyer Ferguson Walker, a national marketing and advertising sales company.  Mennenga left Sawyer Ferguson Walker when it was sold in 1995 to form Mennenga & Associates, which conducts market share, readership and other newspaper studies. He has been a director of INMA, NRC, MRD and a committee chairman for INAME and ABC, among other organizations, as well as a recipient of the NAA’s lifetime achievement award for contributions to newspaper research.
