Bruce Annan
Analyst and Consultant, Classified Intelligence, LLC

Mr. Annan is the former president of electronic media for Torstar Media Group (TMG), including Canada’s largest newspaper, The Toronto Star, and four other daily newspapers; 70 community newspapers; more than 40 Web sites; and Toronto Star Television. During his tenure, Torstar achieved two unprecedented equity partnerships: with Bell Canada in Toronto.com, the country’s most successful online city guide, and with Globe Interactive in Workopolis.com, Canada’s biggest job site. Mr. Annan has consulted extensively with Bell Globemedia, the publisher of The Globe and Mail and major broadcaster owned by Canada’s largest telephone company. He also has consulted for industry associations, community newspapers and magazine publishers. Mr. Annan was the founding publisher of Toronto.com, launching the online guide as part of the CitySearch network in 1997. Previously, he was vice president and regional publisher with Torstar’s Metroland community newspaper group. He began his career as a 16-year-old copyboy at The Edmonton (AB) Journal, and worked as a reporter, sportswriter and editor before moving into senior management. Mr. Annan, who is a former director of the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada, has written extensively for industry publications and also writes a general-interest column for community newspapers in and around his hometown.
