Fred Schecker has been working in electronic/new media since 1992 when he helped launch a proprietary electronic news service at The Kansas City Star. He joined Tribune Interactive in Chicago in 1995 to help syndicate online content to newspapers through a project called WebPoint. He is currently the senior producer for HamptonRoads.com, an award-winning community and entertainment portal connected with the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, VA. He is responsible for assigning video coverage and initiating the flow of user-generated content for HamptonRoads.tv, a new local video website.
