Tamara L. O'ShaughnessySenior Zone Editor/Writing Coach, The Times of Northwest Indiana
During the past 19 years, O'Shaughnessy has worked as reporter and editor at both large and small newspapers from Maine to Illinois. Like many of the people who might attend this seminar, her rise to editor came without any formal training. One day she went from simply helping the city editor read a few stories on deadline to being named city editor at a small newspaper in central Illinois. Most recently, from 2000-2005, she was one of the managing editors at The Times, overseeing eight zoned editions of the newspaper and more than 35 people. O'Shaughnessy, who also coordinates training at The Times, attended API's 2005 Train the Trainer seminar.
