Roger Coleman
General Manager, Hudson Valley Newspapers

Mr. Coleman began his career more than 30 years ago as a motor route driver before becoming a circulation district manger and then a display advertising account executive with the Daily News-Tribune in LaSalle, Illinois. In 1979 Coleman joined the Tampa Tribune and Times in Florida as a retail advertising sales executive. Coleman returned to St. Charles, Illinois, in 1980 to become advertising sales manager with the Chronicle Publishing Company. He was named advertising director of Chronicle Newspapers in 1981, general manager in 1982, associate publisher in 1983 and publisher in 1984.  In 1989 Coleman joined Shaw Newspapers as a group publisher until becoming publisher of The Independent in Ashland, Ky., and the Greenup County News-Times in Greenup, Ky., in 2002, publications of Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI).


In 2003 Coleman was named president of Conley Media, with publications throughout the Greater Milwaukee area. Coleman joined the Johnson Newspaper Corporation in Watertown, N.Y., in 2004 as general manager of the Hudson Valley Newspaper Corporation in Hudson, N.Y., where he is group publisher of two daily and four weekly newspapers.  Coleman is a member of the board of directors of the New York Press Association, a past member of the Inland Cost and Revenue committee, including two terms as co-chair, and has been a discussion leader for many years at the American Press Institute and several state press associations.
