Ed BaronEd Baron
President, Ed Baron & Associates, Inc.

Ed has headed his own Washington-based training and consulting firm for eleven years, but he spent nearly his entire working career in print and broadcast media, and in advertising. His current assignments include design and delivery of programs for advertising agencies and media sales representatives; business literacy, strategic planning, advertising operations, and computer-based management simulations.

He was part of the original development team that created API’s Executive Development Program, and continues to develop and present it. Ed has also been a contract consultant and instructor for the Media Management Center at Northwestern University, planning and presenting programs here and abroad.

He has worked for many metro and community newspapers, including dailies, non-dailies and a startup, and is a frequent speaker at state and regional press associations.

His work in advertising has included programs for multinational agencies, including DDB,  GroupM, McCann-Erickson, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, and others. These assignments have taken him throughout North America and to South America, Western and Central Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Before starting his own firm, he was Director of New Ventures at API, responsible for company-specific seminar and consulting services. He has also been vice president of a consulting firm’s media and advertising practice, a member of the corporate staff of Gannett. He is also a recovering print and broadcast journalist.

He is a member of the Newspaper Association of America and the International Newspaper Marketing Association.
