Gloria P. Ruiz, Ph.D. Stanford University, is the Chairperson for the Communication Arts, English and Humanities Department at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. Her professional work includes extensive experience in designing and managing media and multicultural projects. She has developed multicultural training and educational programs for media organizations as well as for educational institutions. She served as producer of "The Network," a live, interactive, multicultural and multilingual television tutorial program for middle and high school students in San Francisco. The program was cable cast through the VIACOM cable television system and was recognized as the most watched cable access program of record. As promotions director and general manager for a leading cable television company, she developed Spanish as a Second Language programs for employees and the public through cable television public access in the Greater Los Angeles area and instituted Latinos in Cable, an organization that promoted and educated members of the cable television industry about Spanish speaking cultures.
