Robin E. Smith
Director, Customer Relationship Marketing, Gannett, Co., Inc.

Mr. Smith joined the Gannett Company in 1994 and has helped with the development and implementation of several technology initiatives across the company. Since 1999, he has developed two major sales tools for the Gannett advertising community. The first was the Rate Matrix. The Rate Matrix applies an algorithm to bundled sales packages to produce a multi-layered discounting approach which rewards frequency, volume, and product diversity. Most recently he has been working on a CRM solution which is currently deployed in 17 Gannett markets and targeted for 8 additional markets by the end of June 2005. He has been the sole developer, installer, trainer, and support person for all 17 markets. The CRM tool allows account executives to expand their account base and therefore generate new revenue. In April 2004, he assumed the role of Business Development as well. A native of Ironton, Ohio, Robin is a graduate of the University of Maryland. Prior to his arrival at Gannett, he spent 16 years in the United States Air Force serving in various functions around the world.
