Mr. Lavin edits Ticket, a weekly, A&E section in The Star-Ledger, New Jersey's largest newspaper. He also supervises coverage of the visual arts, radio, as well World and Latin music. Prior to joining the Ledger, Enrique was editor-in-chief of Nuestra Comunidad (out of the Home News Tribune), launching Gannett's first Spanish-language weekly newspaper in New Jersey. There, he provided leadership for the daily newspaper's initiative to serve Latinos. He’s also an associate editor of the bi-monthly Latin rock magazine La Banda Elástica, where he had served as a co-publisher and created and wrote the weekly online blog, the Latin Alternative Bulletin (the LAB). From 2000-2002, Enrique was a senior editor at the College Music Journal's weekly industry magazine (New Music Report), launching the first national weekly column and radio chart dedicated to Latin alternative music. He also advised The CMJ Network (monthly magazine, online and industry convention) on its entry into the Latin market. For seven years, he was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, where among other beats (including government reporting) he established regular coverage of Latino pop culture in Orange County, Calif. He has also written for People, People en español, Blender, the Village Voice, the New Times, Urban Latino and Global Rhythm. For the 2002 NAHJ convention, Enrique conceived and moderated the panel “Is There a Unified Latin Pop Culture in America?” In 2005, he moderated the American Press Institute panel, “Reaching a New Bilingual, Bicultural Generation.”
