Loeb Awards Announces Finalists
The finalists for the Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism – considered one of the highest honors in business journalism today – were announced from an all-time high of 394 total submissions.
The UCLA Anderson School of Management, which has been presenting the Loeb awards since Richard Nixon was president, applauds writers, editors and producers for their contributions to furthering business journalism. UCLA officials announced winners of the award's two major categories:
* The 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Louis Rukeyser, economic commentator and financial adviser and host of "Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street" on CNBC.
* The 2004 Lawrence Minard Editor Award winner is Michael Siconolfi, senior editor for financial investigative projects of The Wall Street Journal.
In 10 competitive reporting and writing categories for small to large newspapers, magazines, online and broadcast media this year, stories on Medicare, outsourcing, housing, Boeing, the Fed and the New York Stock Exchange made the finals. Winners will be announced at the Loeb Awards Banquet in New York City on June 28, and don't forget to visit BusinessJournalism.org afterward to view those results!
