During our workshop at Northwestern's Medill School on March 18, Reynolds Center Director Andrew Leckey presented Associate Professor of Journalism George Harmon with a plaque bearing his name that read:

“In recognition of his 25 years of leadership in Business Journalism education and the launching of countless careers.”

Before business journalism was in vogue, Harmon was recruiting students for his classes who went on to positions of leadership in the field, Leckey noted.

“George is the reason I got into business journalism, since before I took his class I wanted to chase police cars and fire trucks,” said former Harmon student Dave Callaway, now editor-in-chief of CBS MarketWatch. “He explained what financial journalism really was, made it exciting and helped get me my first deal as a stringer with Investors Daily.”

Harmon also led the Ethics portion of the Reynolds workshop.
