Session: Workshop leader. Learn why online "answerbases" enhance your print journalism, bring more audiences to your Web site more often, and generate new revenue from businesses that don't advertise in print.

Databases are one of the most effective tools you can use to transform your organization into the online answer source for your community.

Be the Answer builds on the American Press Institute’s groundbreaking work in Newspaper Next and Newspaper Next 2.0, focusing on the potential of databases to build audience and generate new revenue streams.

This is not a technical tutorial showing you how to aggregate and present data, but a strategic approach to using this valuable tool to improve your bottom line. Learn how to use in-house expertise and vendors to develop a community answer source. Find out how to create a strategic vision that will give your databases more impact in the community and on your bottom line.

What you will get:

  • A new vision that applies Newspaper Next insight to the work newspaper companies are already doing with databases, providing a fresh perspective that is more focused on consumers and businesses and the potentially lucrative mega-jobs in your community.
  • Detailed examples of how newspaper companies are using databases to drive stunning Web traffic numbers.
  • Lessons from companies that are using databases to develop new revenue streams from businesses that don’t advertise in newspapers.
  • Practical guidance for developing your own community answer source, even if you don’t have a lot of in-house database expertise.

Who should attend? Publishers, editors, advertising directors, online managers, plus anyone responsible for:

  • A newspaper company's Web operations
  • The health and future of the company
  • Strategic direction
  • Creating new growth
  • Developing new products and services
