Who should attend?

Executive and managing editors, senior editors, and other senior executives interested in developing content to reach new audiences.

How will your organization benefit?

Today’s newsroom leaders need to know how to spot and develop new audience and revenue opportunities. They need to know what ideas have the greatest potential to connect with their communities and how to identify which opportunities to pursue first. Participants will return to their organizations with the tools to recognize and act on new revenue opportunities that exist outside the traditional core newspaper.

In this new seminar, participants learn to master the newest building blocks of Newspaper Next to serve new audiences in new ways, using tools like databases, user-generated content and platforms for community conversation.

Growing Audiences Beyond News is offered in conjunction with another new API seminar, Building the New Revenue Portfolio. Participants in each separate seminar will work together on a Newspaper Next “Jobs To Be Done” workshop, in which they will develop a joint plan for growing audience and revenue. In the course of this workshop, they will gain a greater understanding of consumers and advertisers and create a set of ground rules for appropriate collaboration across the editorial and revenue divide.

Attendees will:

  • Learn what the country’s most innovative newsrooms are doing to build successful multimedia content that connects with audiences who have not been traditional newspaper readers.
  • Explore a new set of strategies for creating appropriate working relationships between editorial and advertising departments.
  • Take away new ideas for content with the greatest potential to bring in revenue.

PLEASE NOTE: This seminar is offered in conjunction with Building the New Revenue Portfolio. Save 50% on tuition when two people from the same organization attend both seminars. (No other discounts apply, including the "Early Bird.")
