Do you know the benchmarks for success?

To be a successful newspaper executive in today’s radically shifting environment, you need to leverage your company’s resources and grow the bottom line.

That’s why it’s so important to attend API’s Revenues and Costs: Benchmarking Quality News Organizations, to gain the tools and strategies to understand the numbers that drive all functional areas of your organization.

Featured Sessions:

  • The Readership Imperative – John Humenik, editor and publisher of the Arizona Daily Star, will present innovative strategies to create “reader experiences” across multiple platforms. Participants will learn how to grow readership with non-traditional resources.
  • Business of New Business – Kevin Doyle, publisher of Pensacola News, will share the expertise that allowed him to create niche newspapers with no increasing costs. With real-life case studies, you will gain insights for building and developing a rock-solid business plan for new business derived from company-wide strategies and a marketing plan that is aligned with all departments.
  • Benchmarks and Revenue Streams for Online Operations - Audiences are migrating to the Web, but what are the metrics and the margins? How does the online business model differ from print? How do you analyze your budget to find new growth? And the question on everyone’s mind: How do you make money?

The program’s centerpiece is the Inland/International Newspaper Financial Executives National Cost and Revenue Study, directed by the Inland Press Association.  Expert instructors will lead you through the eminent industry-wide survey, which assembles and analyzes cost and revenue figures for daily news organizations. You’ll get real “rules of thumb” for establishing performance benchmarks.

High Return On Investment:
This seminar will provide both immediate and long-term benefits. API and the Inland instructors are confident that you’ll find at least $10,000 in revenue or savings during the seminar itself, plus come away with tools for additional gains and savings when you return to the job.

Who should attend:

Senior executives, general managers, directors and department heads with financial responsibilities from all functional areas of the organization.

"Very helpful for career development—energizing."
